Perhaps lobster ramen is already your favourite dish (in which case, why are you still reading this and not eating?!), but it’s likely that lobster and ramen is a new combination to you. The reason for our recipe is simple. We want to combine some of the very best aspects of both Japanese and Western cuisine, and so we have created dishes that mix traditional Japanese seafood with European flavours.
The Best Ramen in Town? You’re the Judge!
While we could never be so bold as to proclaim that we served the best, most delicious ramen in Melbourne, we certainly are confident enough to suggest you try it and make your own mind up! If you’re as crazy about seafood as we are, we know what your answer will be.
The star of our menu, the resident Unabara celebrity dish, has to be our Deluxe Unabara Lobster Sapporo Miso Ramen, which is such a rare delight that it can only be scoffed in Unabara Melbourne Central. The dish is jam-packed with flavour, and comes served in a tasty broth combining French style lobster bisque and Japanese seafood-based ramen soup flavoured with akamiso (red soybean paste). Together, these two completely different flavour sensations combine to create a dish that is at once rich, brimming with flavour, and completely moreish.
Our delicious Sapporo miso ramen (the dish that could quite possibly be the best ramen in Melbourne - did we mention that already?) comes from Japan’s northernmost province of Hokkaido, served with a thick and creamy soup will have you licking your lips for hours after you’ve finished eating. Hokkaido is the birthplace of miso ramen in Japan; miso being one of the newest kids on the ramen scene, having become a national favourite in the mid 1960’s.
Japanese miso ramen is traditionally served in a broth with chicken or fish, and the overall effect of careful cooking, spicing and seasoning is a dish that presents a thick and hearty soup with nutty yet sweet undertones. Miso ramen is a truly versatile dish owing to its unique tangy flavour, and works with a delightful range of toppings – anything from leeks, onions, garlic, or akasimo paste works a treat. It is for this very reason – the universal deliciousness of miso ramen – that we at Unabara have combined the famous Japanese noodles with freshly caught Boston lobster, in a quest to reach our ultimate goal: to serve our diners the best ramen in Melbourne.
